Please join us Saturday morning to watch Irish Water Spaniels run in the field! Or better yet... test your dog's instincts by participating in the tests. There is no better setting to begin testing than surrounded by IWS owners & trainers! These marking tests are designed to evaluate the instincts of these purpose-bred gun dogs.

Working Certificate Test (WC) - lower level 

The dog should be held gently at the line on a flat buckle collar. The dog must return all birds to the line, but not necessarily to hand.

Land Series:

Consists of 2 consecutive marks as a "double" retrieved in either order without handling or switching. 

Water Series:

Consists of  2 single marks in or around water. The dog must demonstrate swimming ability.

Working Certificate Excellent (WCX) - upper level

The dog must be steady at the line without a collar. The birds must all be returned to hand. 1 controlled break is allowed.

Land Series:

Consists of 3 consecutive marks as a "triple."

Water Series:

Consists of 2 consecutive  marks retrieved as a "double."

Honor on Water:

After completing the land and water series, the dog will observe the next dog run its water series until excused by the judge (after the working dog is sent). The dog must sit steady next to the handler without a collar.
